What is OFIX?

OFIX is the SnakeGrid Transformer Origin Fixer.

What do I use OFIX for?

Use OFIX to fix elements that SnakeGrid Transformer reports as having an "out of range origin".

What is an "out of range origin"?

Certain types of MicroStation element have an origin (See Which elements does OFIX handle?). SnakeGrid Transformer processes these elements by the origin. If the origin is outside the maximum range of the design file SnakeGridTransformer cannot process these elements.

To allow SnakeGridTransformer to process these elements the origin has to be fixed so that it is inside the design file extents.

How does OFIX fix out-of-range origins?

OFIX changes the origin so it is approximately at the centre of the various geometric features that make up the element.

What is the worst that can happen?

If an element cannot be fixed, i.e. its origin cannot be modified, the the element is deleted.

So always have a backup of the MicroStation design file being processed, just 'in case'.

How do I use OFIX?

In the keyin window, type:

mdl load ofix

Press either Check or Fix.

When the process has finished an info box shows the total number of elements found, the number of invalid elements, and the number of elements fixed.

Which elements does OFIX handle?

OFIX scans your design file for elements that have an origin. Specifically:

• SHARED CELLS
• CELLS
• TEXT
• TEXT
