OS-MasterMap (V006)

OS MasterMap? Translator Setup

Create the following directory:

  • c:\product
Copy the file [http://www.dhp11.com/site04/project/0891/downloads/014_cwmastermap-006.zip cwmastermap-006.zip] into the above directory and 'extract' all files/directories.

This should create the following files/directory structure:

  • c:\product\cwmastermap\uxtrt.exe
  • c:\product\cwmastermap\uxtr-006.dll
  • c:\product\cwmastermap\tilelist.csv
  • c:\product\cwmastermap\doone.bat
  • c:\product\cwmastermap\doall.bat
  • c:\product\cwmastermap\config * c:\product\cwmastermap\dgn * c:\product\cwmastermap\mastermap * c:\product\cwmastermap\temp

All existing OS MasterMap (.gz) files (to be translated) should exist in the following directory:

  • c:\product\cwmastermap\mastermap
At present a sample set of data has been provided. This will allow a single map tile 'sw7634.dgn' to be created from the supplied OS MasterMap (.gz) file '29253-sw7634-5i302.gz'.

To start the translation go to DOS (this can be started from the menu 'Start->programs->accessories->Command Prompt') and change to the directory:

c:\product\cwmastermap

Then enter the following:

doall.bat

Translation should begin and information will be displayed to the DOS window.
Translation will be complete when no other information is being displayed to the screen.

The OS MasterMap translator has been created as a command line interface (as previously discussed between DWH and C.Goodson).
NOTE: This latest version of the Translator creates Microstation SE (Version 7) design files which have been 'clipped' to the required 1km/500m map tile.

DGN Directory

This directory contains a number of sub-directories where all translated OS MasterMap files will be created as Microstation design files from the specified list of maps (provided by file tilelist.csv)

NOTE: These sub-directories should match up with the list of files as specified in the 'tilelist.csv' file. These directories need to have been created before translation begins.

At present just a single sub-directory \sw76\ has been created for this supplied sample data.

MASTERMAP Directory

This directory should contain the full list of OS MasterMap (.gz) files.

NOTE: At present just a single 'sample' OS MasterMap? (.gz) file '29253-sw7634-5i302.gz' exists within this directory.

TILELIST.CSV file

This file contains the list of all 1km/500m metres map tiles that need to be translated.

At present this file contains the name of a single 'sample' map tile only (sw7634). This file will need to be modified with a list of new map tiles that need to be created from newly supplied OS MasterMap? (.gz) files.

NOTE: If the name of the file 'tilelist.csv' is changed, then the arguments of the 'doone.bat' file will need to be modified to the name of the new filename.

CONFIG Directory

Contains the following files:
  • seed.dgn - the default seed file from which all new Microstation design files are created
  • gtu0_osmm.cel - the default cell library containing all of the required OS MasterMap symbols
  • gtu0_config.xml - the default config file containing alist of OS Features, and how these should be translated using the importer

CWMASTERMAP directory

Constains the following files:
  • uxtrt.ma - command line version of the OS MasterMap Translator
  • uxtr-006.dll - required OS MasterMap dll
  • doone.bat - batch file allowing a single OS MasterMap file to be selected and translated and Microstation design files created from the list of maps (tilelist.csv)
  • doall.bat - batch file allowing all of the OS MasterMap files to be translated and Microstation design files created from the list of maps (tilelist.csv)
  • tilelist.csv - full list of maps tiles that need to be created.
NOTE: Even if a map tile is specified - the matching Microstation design file will only be created if the supplied OS MasterMap (.gz) files cover this area

TEMP directory

Directory where any report/error files are produced by the OS MasterMap Translator.
