CW-Compare Fence Tools

The following page describes how to manipulate 'grouped' elements using 'standard' Microstation tools:

Within the CW data (both plant and cable asset files) - there are 'groups' of elements that relate to specific chamber configurations.
It may be required to move the position of some of these chamber 'groupings' - while at the same time making sure that all related elements are kept in their same 'relative' positions.

The following steps describe how this can be achieved using 'standard' Microstation tools:

  • Identify the group of elements that need to be moved:

  • Open the 'fence' palette

, to do this, either:
** In the Microstation Command 'Keyin' window enter: dialog toolbox fence ** Open the 'Fence' palette - from the 'Main' tool palette

  • Select the 'Place Fence' tool, and set 'tool' settings to:

** Set 'Fence Type:' to: Shape ** Set 'Fence Mode:' to: Inside

  • Place a fence around the 'group' of elements
    NOTE: Press the [Close Fence] pushbutton to close the fence shape

  • Select the 'Maniplate Fence Contents' tool

and set 'tool' settings to:

** Set 'Operation:' to: Stretch ** Set 'Fence Mode:' to: Inside ** Toggle 'off' the 'Stretch Cells' toggle

  • Select a point/position (origin) within the fence to move the 'group' of elements from

  • Select a point/position (origin) to where the group of elements are to be moved to

  • When the point is accepted, the 'group' of elements will be moved to the specified location
